I just played in my first Men’s Senior Baseball (MSBL) World Series!
Two weeks in the greater Phoenix area, first playing with the Cal-Vets team in the 50+ Desert division, followed by a second week with the Chicago Yankees and MAXX Cubs in the 55+ and 65+ Cactus divisions, respectively.
I’ve written up an illustrated report of my first week — click on the link to view it!
Despite continuing to rehab a lower back injury incurred from crashing in the last session of a master’s speed skating camp in Lake Placid back in August, I played pretty well and overall enjoyed the experience. I survived and at times thrived through thirteen (potentially) nine inning games in ten days of scorching Arizona heat.
We also greatly enjoyed spending time with friends living in the area and visiting from Las Vegas and Albuquerque.
… Now that I’ve completed my baseball fix for the year — my longest season ever, about sixty games! And amazingly, for the first time since high school I didn’t miss even one game due to injury or illness! — I can get back to science projects I’ve reported on here, and others I haven’t even had time to mention. I would also love to finish a draft of my book on recovering from Lyme disease, tentatively titled The Gift of Lyme Disease.
